Artist
Onmyo-Za is a Japanese heavy metal band formed in Osaka in 1999. The group combines heavy riffs and traditional Japanese melodic elements with lyrics drawn from folklore, history and the supernatural. Its best-known songs include “Kōga Ninpōchō,” the opening theme for the anime series Basilisk, and the three-part “Kumikyoku Yoshitsune” suite from the album Garyō Tensei. In 2012, the concert release Zekkai Enbu documented the band’s touring work, followed by the separate Fujin Raibu and Raijin Raibu recordings associated with the albums Fujin Kaiko and Raijin Sosei. The 2016 Zetten Ranbu tour also received its own live release. The concert format is a full heavy-metal band with twin guitars and drums, centered on the contrasting vocals of Kuroneko and Matatabi.
