Patti Austin in Portsmouth

Patti Austin is an American singer born in Harlem whose work spans R&B, pop and vocal jazz. She is known for the James Ingram duets “Baby, Come to Me” and “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?”, as well as albums including Every Home Should Have One and The Real Me. Her Gershwin tribute Avant Gershwin won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Live at the Bottom Line documented her late-1970s performance at the New York club. Her concert repertoire later encompassed the Ella Fitzgerald tribute For Ella and the Gershwin material heard on Avant Gershwin. At the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2008, she performed in the concert celebrating Quincy Jones’s 75th birthday.
