Paulo De Carvalho in Vila Nova de Gaia

Paulo de Carvalho is a Portuguese singer and songwriter born in Lisbon in 1947, known for pop and fado-influenced songs including “Flor sem Tempo” and “E Depois do Adeus.” He first performed with the rock group Sheiks before pursuing a solo career. A radio broadcast of “E Depois do Adeus” was used as the first coded signal for the Carnation Revolution in 1974. In 1974, he performed “E Depois do Adeus” at the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton. Three years later, he returned to the contest in London as a member of Os Amigos, performing “Portugal no Coração.”
