About Pharmakon
Pharmakon is the solo power-electronics project of American musician Margaret Chardiet, formed in New York in 2007. Her music centers on harsh noise, industrial textures and extreme vocal performance. Her Sacred Bones Records catalogue includes the albums Abandon, Bestial Burden, Contact and Devour.
Chardiet began performing as Pharmakon in DIY spaces while still a teenager. In 2014, she played Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, and later festival appearances included Berlin Atonal and Roadburn in Tilburg.
Pharmakon is a solo live performance built around electronics, processed noise and vocals, often extending beyond the stage as Chardiet moves through the room with a microphone. The voice and physical presence of Margaret Chardiet remain the focal points of the set.
