About Einstürzende Neubauten
Einstürzende Neubauten are a German experimental band formed in West Berlin in 1980 and centered on Blixa Bargeld and N.U. Unruh. Their industrial music uses guitars and electronics alongside found metal and custom-built percussion; albums including Kollaps, Halber Mensch, Haus der Lüge and Silence Is Sexy established that approach across several decades.
The band gave its first concert at the Moon Club in 1980. Concerto for Voice and Machinery at London’s ICA in 1984 placed pneumatic tools and industrial materials at the center of the performance, while the 2004 Palast der Republik concert was later documented on record and film. In 2014, the commissioned First World War work Lament premiered in Diksmuide before being presented on tour.
