About Philippe Jordan
Philippe Jordan is a Swiss conductor, born in Zurich in 1974. He has served as music director of the Paris Opera and the Vienna State Opera. His operatic and symphonic repertoire is closely associated with Wagner, Richard Strauss and Beethoven, including Der Ring des Nibelungen and complete Beethoven symphony cycles.
In 2002, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut conducting Die Fledermaus. He subsequently led a complete staging of Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Opéra Bastille, conducted Parsifal at the Bayreuth Festival and took Beethoven cycles on tour as principal conductor of the Vienna Symphony.
He has conducted opera at the Palais Garnier and symphonic programmes at the Musikverein.
