About Víkingur Ólafsson
Víkingur Ólafsson is an Icelandic classical pianist, born in Reykjavík in 1984. His recordings centre on composers including Philip Glass, Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, Jean-Philippe Rameau and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; notable albums include Philip Glass: Piano Works, Debussy · Rameau, Mozart & Contemporaries and Goldberg Variations.
In 2023 and 2024, he toured Bach’s complete Goldberg Variations as a solo recital, bringing the work to Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Festival Hall in London. His wider concert history combines solo programmes with orchestral appearances, including performances at the Berlin Philharmonie.
