Piwnica pod Baranami in Wroclaw

Piwnica pod Baranami is a Polish literary cabaret founded in Kraków in 1956 by Piotr Skrzynecki. Its mixture of sung poetry, satire and theatrical sketches became associated with performers including Ewa Demarczyk and Marek Grechuta, while songs such as “Ta nasza młodość” and “Dezyderata” became part of its repertoire. Beginning in 1956, the ensemble presented Saturday-night programmes in the cellar of the Palace Pod Baranami, building each performance around songs, poetry and topical cabaret material. It also marked major anniversaries with open-air concerts on the Main Market Square.
