Artist
Planet X is an American instrumental progressive-metal band formed in 1999 by keyboardist Derek Sherinian and drummer Virgil Donati. Its music combines complex metal arrangements with jazz-fusion improvisation, heard across the albums Universe, MoonBabies and Quantum. In 2002, Planet X toured in support of MoonBabies, and the Australian run produced a concert recording from The Corner Hotel in Melbourne. Released as Live from Oz, it documents Sherinian and Donati performing with guitarist Tony MacAlpine and bassist Dave LaRue.
