Preservation Hall Jazz Band in Bar Harbor

Preservation Hall Jazz Band is an American ensemble formed in New Orleans in the early 1960s to carry forward the city’s traditional jazz. Its repertoire includes standards, spirituals and original compositions; later albums such as That’s It!, So It Is and A Tuba to Cuba brought new writing and Cuban musical connections into its recorded work. The group began touring nationally under Allan Jaffe in the early 1960s, building its concert work around the repertoire heard at Preservation Hall. It marked its 50th anniversary in 2012 with a concert later released as St. Peter & 57th St., recorded at Carnegie Hall.
