Natalie Merchant in Bar Harbor

Natalie Merchant is an American singer-songwriter born in Jamestown, New York, in 1963. She was the lead singer and principal lyricist of 10,000 Maniacs before beginning a solo career with the 1995 album Tigerlily, which includes “Carnival,” “Wonder” and “Jealousy.” Her later work has ranged across folk rock, pop and literary song cycles, including Ophelia and Leave Your Sleep. In 1995, she began touring as a solo artist behind Tigerlily. The 1999 album Live in Concert documented a performance at the Neil Simon Theatre, while tours for subsequent records brought her to theatres and concert halls with a band and guest instrumentalists. She returned to those stages in 2023 for the Keep Your Courage Tour.
