Princess Chelsea in Thornbury

Princess Chelsea is the solo project of New Zealand singer, songwriter and producer Chelsea Nikkel. Her baroque pop and synth-pop pairs electronic arrangements with understated vocals; she is best known for “The Cigarette Duet” and the album Lil’ Golden Book, followed by records including The Great Cybernetic Depression and Everything Is Going to Be Alright. Princess Chelsea presented her songs at an NPR Tiny Desk Concert in Washington, D.C., singing at the keyboard as part of a compact multi-instrumental ensemble. Subsequent tours have used a full band for club and theatre dates in Auckland and London.
