Quicksand is an American post-hardcore band formed in New York City in 1990 by vocalist and guitarist Walter Schreifels. The group is best known for the albums Slip and Manic Compression, including songs such as “Fazer,” “Dine Alone” and “Thorn in My Side.” Quicksand played the inaugural Warped Tour in 1995 before disbanding later that year, then reunited briefly in 1998. Their longer return began in 2012 with a surprise performance at Revelation Records’ 25th-anniversary event at the Glass House in Pomona, followed by a headlining show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.
Fucked Up are a Canadian hardcore punk band formed in Toronto in 2001. They are known for the 2009 Polaris Music Prize-winning album The Chemistry of Common Life and the rock opera David Comes to Life, which includes “Queen of Hearts” and “The Other Shoe.” In 2008, Fucked Up marked the release of The Chemistry of Common Life by playing for 12 hours at the Rogan store in New York. They returned to the marathon format in 2011 for another 12-hour concert, built around David Comes to Life, at the Great Hall in their hometown.
