Regensburger Domspatzen in Hamburg

Regensburger Domspatzen is a German cathedral choir based in Regensburg, tracing its history to the cathedral school founded by Bishop Wolfgang in 975. The ensemble is known for Catholic sacred music, including Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony and choral works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Anton Bruckner. Regensburg Cathedral is the centre of the choir’s performance tradition, where its singers provide music for the liturgy as well as appearing in concerts. During Georg Ratzinger’s long tenure as director, the ensemble expanded its international concert activity, and in 2006 it sang during Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Regensburg.
