About Ron Carter Quartet
Ron Carter Quartet is a small-group project led by American jazz double bassist and composer Ron Carter, who was born in 1937 in Ferndale, Michigan. Carter is known for his work in Miles Davis’s Second Great Quintet and for leader recordings including Piccolo, Dear Miles and Foursight – Stockholm.
In 1965, Carter played with Davis’s quintet at Chicago’s Plugged Nickel, an engagement preserved on extensive live recordings. His later work as a bandleader included a Foursight quartet performance at Fasching documented on Foursight – Stockholm. In 2022, ensembles from across his career came together for an 85th-birthday concert at Carnegie Hall.
