About Dave Holland
Dave Holland is a British jazz bassist, composer and bandleader, born in Wolverhampton in 1946. He played on Miles Davis’s In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew, worked with Chick Corea and Anthony Braxton in Circle, and led sessions including Conference of the Birds and Prime Directive.
In 1968, Miles Davis heard Dave Holland playing at Ronnie Scott’s in London and invited him into his band. Holland subsequently performed with Davis at Fillmore East and the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival before establishing his own ensembles. His long-running quintet with Chris Potter, Robin Eubanks, Steve Nelson and Billy Kilson recorded Extended Play: Live at Birdland.
