Rose City Band in San Francisco

Rose City Band is an American psychedelic country-rock project led by Portland musician Ripley Johnson, also known for Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo. Conceived as a studio project, it debuted with a self-titled album in 2019 and developed its spacious guitar sound on Summerlong, Earth Trip and Garden Party. Its best-known songs include “Only Lonely” and “Chasing Rainbows.” Rose City Band began playing concerts in 2022, when Johnson brought the studio project onstage as a full band. Guitars, keyboards, bass, drums and pedal steel formed the touring lineup for North American and European dates in 2023 supporting Garden Party.
