About Russian National Orchestra
Russian National Orchestra is a Russian symphony orchestra founded in 1990 by pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev. Its repertoire centres on Russian and European orchestral music, and its recordings include Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff symphonies as well as Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.
Russian National Orchestra gave its inaugural concert in Moscow in 1990 and undertook its first North American tour in 1991. It established the annual RNO Grand Festival in 2009 as a series of orchestral programs featuring guest conductors and soloists.
Its engagements have included symphonic concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and appearances at the BBC Proms in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
