Sam Baker is an American folk and Americana singer-songwriter, born in 1954 and raised in Itasca, Texas. A 1986 train bombing in Peru left him with severe injuries that shaped his later approach to singing and guitar. His best-known recordings include the albums Mercy, Pretty World, Cotton and Say Grace, as well as songs such as “Waves” and “Broken Fingers.”

Tours behind Mercy and the records that followed took Sam Baker through listening rooms, theatres and folk festivals in the United States and Europe, performing solo and with a small band. His festival appearances have included the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival.
