Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by guitarist Carlos Santana. Its percussion-rich Latin rock and sustained electric-guitar lines became widely known through the album Abraxas and songs including “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va” and “Smooth”; the latter appeared on the album Supernatural.

Santana played the Woodstock festival in 1969 before its debut album had been released, and the performance of “Soul Sacrifice” became a key document of the band’s early live work. Decades later, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits opened as a residency at The Joint in 2009. In 2012, the band began An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live at the House of Blues in Las Vegas, establishing another long-running residency around its catalogue.
