About Schandmaul
Schandmaul is a folk-rock and folk-metal band formed in the Munich area in 1998. Its German-language songs combine rock instrumentation with bagpipes, flutes, violin and hurdy-gurdy, drawing on medieval tales and folklore. The band is known for songs including “Herren der Winde,” “Walpurgisnacht” and “Dein Anblick,” as well as the albums Narrenkönig and Wie Pech & Schwefel.
In 2013, Schandmaul celebrated its 15th anniversary at Cologne’s Tanzbrunnen, documented on the concert release 15 Jahre Schandmaul. The band has also performed at Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze Open Air.
The band plays most often in Germany and also performs in Austria and Switzerland.
