Seckou Keita in Hamburg

Seckou Keita is a Senegalese kora player, composer and singer from Ziguinchor, born into a family of hereditary griot musicians. He is known for the solo album 22 Strings, his duo recordings Clychau Dibon and SOAR with Welsh harpist Catrin Finch, and Transparent Water with Cuban pianist Omar Sosa. Seckou Keita and Catrin Finch toured internationally behind Clychau Dibon; he later performed the Transparent Water repertoire with Omar Sosa before returning to the harp-and-kora duo for SOAR. These collaborations have taken him through concert halls and arts centres as a soloist, duo musician and ensemble player. His festival appearances have included WOMAD and the Celtic Connections programme in Glasgow.
