Shai Maestro in Bremen

Shai Maestro is an Israeli jazz pianist and composer, born in 1987, whose work includes recordings with bassist Avishai Cohen and albums under his own name. He played on Cohen’s Gently Disturbed, Aurora and Seven Seas, then released records including Shai Maestro Trio, The Road to Ithaca, The Dream Thief and Human. His music is built around lyrical piano improvisation and close post-bop interplay. In 2006, Shai Maestro joined Avishai Cohen’s trio and spent the following years touring internationally with the group. He later formed a trio with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Ziv Ravitz, taking the ensemble to jazz clubs and festivals including Jazz in Marciac. The trio also recorded a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music in Washington, D.C.
