Sheku Kanneh-Mason & Benjamin Grosvenor in New York

Sheku Kanneh-Mason is a British cellist, born in Nottingham in 1999, who won BBC Young Musician in 2016. His recordings include the albums Inspiration, Elgar and Song, spanning major cello repertoire and arrangements of vocal music. In 2017, he made his BBC Proms debut at the Royal Albert Hall, performing Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto with the Chineke! Orchestra. The following year, he played at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in St George’s Chapel, Windsor. His concert work includes orchestral performances, solo recitals and chamber programmes. He has also appeared in recital with his pianist sister, Isata Kanneh-Mason.

Benjamin Grosvenor is a British classical pianist, born in Southend-on-Sea in 1992. He became the youngest winner of BBC Young Musician in 2004 and later signed to Decca Classics. His recordings include the solo albums Dances and Homages, featuring music by composers including Chopin, Liszt, Ravel and Mendelssohn. In 2011, Grosvenor made his BBC Proms debut on the First Night at the Royal Albert Hall, performing Liszt’s Second Piano Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He returned in 2015 to perform at the Last Night of the Proms. Beyond Britain, he has given recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
