Sinikka Langeland in Bad Vilbel

Sinikka Langeland is a Norwegian singer, composer and kantele player, born in 1961 and closely associated with the Forest Finn culture of Finnskogen. Her music brings traditional songs and rune singing into dialogue with improvising jazz; key recordings include Starflowers, based on poems by Hans Børli, The Land That Is Not and The Magical Forest. For performances built around Starflowers, Sinikka Langeland sang and played kantele in an ensemble featuring trumpeter Arve Henriksen, saxophonist Trygve Seim, bassist Anders Jormin and drummer Markku Ounaskari. She has also given solo recitals for voice and different members of the kantele family, the format documented on Wolf Rune.
