Slayer is an American thrash-metal band formed in Huntington Park, California, in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist and bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo. The band became known for fast, abrasive records including Reign in Blood, South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss, as well as songs such as “Angel of Death” and “Raining Blood.” The Clash of the Titans tour brought Slayer together with Megadeth and Anthrax in Europe in 1990 and North America in 1991, where Alice in Chains opened the shows. At Sonisphere in Sofia in 2010, Slayer performed with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax as the four bands appeared together in concert. The farewell tour began in 2018 and concluded at The Forum in Inglewood in 2019. The band has headlined arena dates at Madison Square Garden and performed at a stadium concert at Yankee Stadium. Slayer returned to the stage in 2024 for Riot Fest in Chicago and Aftershock in Sacramento.
Power Trip is an American crossover thrash metal band formed in Dallas, Texas, in 2008. Its music combines hardcore punk with speed, thrash and death metal. After signing with Southern Lord and appearing at SXSW, the band released its debut album, Manifest Decimation, in 2013, followed by Nightmare Logic in 2017. Its catalogue also includes the early-material compilation Opening Fire: 2008–2014. The band’s appearance at SXSW preceded its first album, while the concert recording Live in Seattle: 05.28.2018 documents Power Trip performing in Seattle in 2018.
