About Sonido Gallo Negro
Sonido Gallo Negro is a Mexican instrumental band formed in Mexico City in 2010. The group plays cumbia rooted in Peruvian chicha, colored by electric guitar, organ, percussion and psychedelic surf-rock. Its catalog includes the albums Cumbia Salvaje, Sendero Místico and Mambo Cósmico.
In 2017, the group recorded a live session for KEXP at Panoram Studios, documenting its guitar, organ and percussion lineup in performance. Sonido Gallo Negro has also appeared at Vive Latino and Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.
