Sports Team in Newcastle upon Tyne

Sports Team are a British indie-rock band formed in 2016 after the members met at the University of Cambridge. Their wiry guitar songs and talk-sung vocals became known through tracks including “Kutcher,” “Here’s the Thing” and “The Races.” The debut album Deep Down Happy was shortlisted for the 2020 Mercury Prize, followed by Gulp!. A run of early shows at The Five Bells in New Cross helped establish Sports Team as a live act. They later created the recurring Margate Bus Trip, taking supporters out of London for a seaside concert, while subsequent UK headline dates brought the six-piece to O2 Academy Brixton.
