Artist
Stefan Gwildis is a German singer and songwriter, born in Hamburg in 1958, whose music draws on soul and pop. He is known especially for the album Neues Spiel, which recast American soul songs with German lyrics, followed by records including Nur wegen Dir and Heut ist der Tag. The music-theatre and cabaret duo Aprillfrisch, formed with Rolf Claussen, gave Stefan Gwildis an early live platform before his solo recording career. Concerts built around Neues Spiel later brought his German-language soul repertoire to theatres and concert halls across Germany, and he has also performed arranged soul programmes with the NDR Bigband.
