Stornoway & The Young'Uns in Birmingham

Stornoway are a British indie-folk band formed in Oxford in 2006. Their acoustic pop, close vocal harmonies and natural-history imagery came to wider attention through the debut album Beachcomber’s Windowsill and songs including “Zorbing,” “I Saw You Blink” and “Fuel Up.” Later albums include Tales from Terra Firma and Bonxie. In 2010, Stornoway played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival while touring their debut. Tours behind their subsequent records followed, leading to a farewell run in 2017. The band reunited onstage at Truck Festival in 2022.

The Young'Uns are an English folk trio from Stockton-on-Tees, comprising Sean Cooney, Michael Hughes and David Eagle. They are known for close three-part harmonies, traditional songs and original writing about working-class life and social history. Their albums include Strangers and Tiny Notes. Cambridge Folk Festival and Glastonbury Festival have both hosted the trio, whose concerts combine harmony singing, spoken introductions and storytelling. They later developed The Ballad of Johnny Longstaff into a touring theatre production, using songs and narration to recount the life of the Stockton activist and Spanish Civil War veteran Johnny Longstaff.
