Surprise Chef are an Australian instrumental funk and soul-jazz group formed in Melbourne in 2017. They are known for tightly arranged, cinematic grooves heard across the albums All News Is Good News, Daylight Savings and Education & Recreation, the latter released by Big Crown Records. The touring cycle for Education & Recreation took Surprise Chef outside Australia for full-band performances in clubs and at festivals. It included a filmed session for KEXP in Seattle and a 2023 performance at Glastonbury Festival.
