Swallow The Sun is a Finnish death-doom band formed in Jyväskylä in 2000 by guitarist Juha Raivio. The group established its sound on The Morning Never Came and expanded it across the three-part Songs from the North, followed by When a Shadow Is Forced into the Light and Moonflowers. The Finnish Metal Tour brought Swallow The Sun through North America in 2010 on a package headed by Finntroll and also featuring Moonsorrow and Survivors Zero. In 2021 the band released 20 Years of Gloom, Beauty and Despair: Live in Helsinki, documenting a career-spanning performance and a complete rendition of Songs from the North II at Tavastia Club.
