The Besnard Lakes in Oxford

The Besnard Lakes are a Canadian rock band formed in 2003 by Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas. Their music draws on shoegaze, dream pop and psychedelic rock, and they are known for albums including The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse, The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night and The Besnard Lakes Are the Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings. The first two were shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize, while “Albatross” became one of the group’s signature songs. The tour behind The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse took the band through North America and Europe, establishing a pattern of club, theatre and festival performances that continued around later releases. Their concerts are full-band performances centered on the guitars and vocals of Jace Lasek and the bass and vocals of Olga Goreas.
