About The Blasters
The Blasters are an American roots-rock band formed in Downey, California, in 1979 by brothers Phil and Dave Alvin, bassist John Bazz and drummer Bill Bateman. Their music draws on rock and roll, rockabilly, blues and country, and their best-known recordings include “American Music,” “Marie Marie,” “Border Radio” and “Dark Night.” The albums The Blasters, Non Fiction and Hard Line established their core catalogue.
A 1982 performance at The Venue in London was documented on the live release Over There, and the band also opened dates for Queen that year. Members of the early lineup later reunited for concerts, including a performance at the House of Blues in Hollywood preserved in the concert film and album Live: Going Home.
