The Buttertones are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2012. Their music draws on surf rock, garage rock and post-punk, and many recordings feature reverb-heavy guitar and saxophone. They are known for the albums Gravedigging and Midnight in a Moonless Dream, as well as songs including “Orpheus Under the Influence,” “Matador” and “Dionysus.” The Buttertones performed at Coachella in 2017, the same year Gravedigging was released.
