Artists
The Doo Wop Project is an American vocal group formed by performers with Broadway credits including Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musical. The group is known for close-harmony interpretations that connect 1950s and 1960s doo-wop with later pop songs, presenting the music as a staged concert program. The project developed through performances at 54 Below in New York before moving into theatres and performing-arts centres around the United States, including concerts accompanied by orchestras. Its live repertoire pairs standards such as “Remember Then” and “The Morse Code of Love” with doo-wop arrangements of songs associated with Michael Jackson and Maroon 5.
The Streets are a British music project from Birmingham led by songwriter, producer and rapper Mike Skinner. Their conversational rap draws on UK garage, hip-hop and electronic pop, heard on the albums Original Pirate Material and A Grand Don’t Come for Free and songs including “Has It Come to This?”, “Fit but You Know It” and “Dry Your Eyes”. The 2011 Computers and Blues tour was billed as The Streets’ farewell and ended with a performance at The Big Reunion in Skegness. Mike Skinner revived the project for a 2018 reunion tour that included several nights at O2 Academy Brixton, followed in 2019 by a headline performance on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury.
