About The Dramatics
The Dramatics are an American soul vocal group formed in Detroit in 1964. Their best-known recordings include “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get” and “In the Rain,” both written and produced by Tony Hester, while the album Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get established their close-harmony sound on the Volt label.
For the 1973 concert film Wattstax, The Dramatics were filmed at the Summit Club in Los Angeles. Mel Stuart’s finished film preserves the group performing “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get” and “In the Rain.”
