About Zapp
Zapp is an American funk band formed in Dayton, Ohio, in the late 1970s around Roger Troutman and his brothers. The group became known for synthesizer-driven funk and Roger Troutman’s use of the talk box on songs including “More Bounce to the Ounce,” “Dance Floor,” “Computer Love” and “I Can Make You Dance.”
In 2018, Zapp performed a Tiny Desk concert for NPR Music, presenting its repertoire with a full band and prominent talk-box vocals. The group continues to tour under the leadership of Lester Troutman, keeping the songs and sound associated with Roger Troutman at the center of its shows.
