About The Emotions
The Emotions are an American soul and R&B vocal group formed in Chicago by sisters Sheila, Wanda and Jeanette Hutchinson, who began singing gospel as the Hutchinson Sunbeams. After recording for Stax, they worked with Maurice White at Columbia on albums including Flowers and Rejoice. They are known for “Best of My Love,” “Don’t Ask My Neighbors” and their Earth, Wind & Fire collaboration “Boogie Wonderland.”
For the 1973 film Wattstax, the group was filmed singing “Peace Be Still” at Friendly Will Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Decades later, they performed “Best of My Love” in the ensemble concert filmed for PBS as Get Down Tonight: The Disco Explosion.
