The Houghton Weavers in Lancashire

The Houghton Weavers are an English folk group formed in 1975 in Westhoughton, near Bolton. Their repertoire centres on traditional and popular songs associated with northern England, presented with Lancashire humour. Their recording of “The Blackpool Belle” became a signature number, while the BBC television series Sit Thi Deawn brought their music and comedy to a wider audience. The Houghton Weavers have spent decades touring British theatres and concert halls with an acoustic programme of ensemble singing, guitar, banjo, stories and comedy. Tony Berry fronted the group for many years, and their concert history includes a performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
