The Ides Of March are an American rock band formed in Berwyn, Illinois, in 1964. Led by singer and songwriter Jim Peterik, they are best known for the horn-driven 1970 single “Vehicle”; their catalogue also includes “You Wouldn’t Listen,” “L.A. Goodbye” and the albums Vehicle and Common Bond. The band reunited in 1990 and resumed performing with Peterik and other founding members. They marked their 50th anniversary at the House of Blues in Chicago in 2014, then celebrated 55 years with a 2019 concert at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan.
Jim Peterik is an American singer, guitarist, keyboardist and songwriter, born in 1950. He founded The Ides of March, whose signature song is “Vehicle,” and later co-founded Survivor. His best-known compositions include Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” and “Burning Heart,” as well as 38 Special’s “Hold On Loosely” and “Caught Up in You.” The Ides of March reunited in 1990, returning Peterik to concert stages with the band’s catalog. He later established Jim Peterik’s World Stage as a concert series built around songs from his writing career and guest performances, presenting it in a theatre setting at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles.
