About The Jesus and Mary Chain
The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride in 1983 by brothers Jim and William Reid. They paired pop melodies with guitar feedback and distortion on the debut album Psychocandy, which includes “Just Like Honey” and “Never Understand”; later records produced songs including “April Skies” and “Head On.”
In 1985, a brief concert at North London Polytechnic ended in disorder, becoming a widely reported episode from the band’s early live history. The Jesus and Mary Chain broke up in 1998 and reunited to perform at Coachella in 2007. In 2014 they began anniversary concerts built around playing Psychocandy in full, later taking the album-focused show beyond the UK as the Psychocandy Live tour.
