Matthew Dear is an American electronic musician, producer and DJ, born in Texas in 1979. He makes minimal techno and vocal-led electronic pop, and is known for “Dog Days” and the albums Leave Luck to Heaven, Asa Breed and Black City. His club-focused work also appears under aliases including Audion and False. Matthew Dear supported Depeche Mode on North American dates of the 2013 Delta Machine Tour, taking his electronic set into arenas. He has also performed his harder techno material as Audion; in 2016, that project became SUBVERTICUL, a live audiovisual production developed with designer Heather Shaw.
