About The King's Singers
The King's Singers are a British male vocal sextet formed in 1968 by six choral scholars from King's College, Cambridge. They are known for close-harmony a cappella singing across Renaissance polyphony, classical music, folk, jazz and pop; their catalogue includes “You Are the New Day” and albums such as Simple Gifts and GOLD.
They gave their first concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London in 1968. For their 50th anniversary in 2018, the GOLD project paired a three-disc retrospective with an international concert tour that included an anniversary performance at Carnegie Hall in New York.
They perform as six unaccompanied voices: two countertenors, a tenor, two baritones and a bass. Their programmes place multipart works by Thomas Tallis and Orlando di Lasso beside vocal arrangements of songs by The Beatles.
