About The Manhattan Transfer
The Manhattan Transfer is an American vocal quartet founded in New York City in 1969 by Tim Hauser. Its close-harmony repertoire draws on jazz, swing and pop, and its best-known recordings include “Chanson d’Amour,” “The Boy from New York City” and “Birdland,” as well as the albums Extensions and Vocalese.
The group recorded The Manhattan Transfer Live during a 1978 British tour that included London’s Hammersmith Odeon. In 2022 it began The Final World Tour, concluding its concert career at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles in December 2023.
