The National is an American indie-rock band formed in Cincinnati in 1999. Matt Berninger’s baritone vocals and the arrangements of brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner are central to albums including Boxer, High Violet, Trouble Will Find Me and Sleep Well Beast. Their best-known songs include “Fake Empire,” “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and “I Need My Girl.” In 2008, The National supported R.E.M. on the Accelerate Tour. The band later headlined Barclays Center in 2013 during the touring cycle for Trouble Will Find Me, then created the Homecoming festival and headlined its first edition in Cincinnati in 2018. The band toured the United Kingdom repeatedly, including return appearances at Glastonbury Festival. Its Australian itineraries also included concerts at the Sydney Opera House.
