About The Nightingales
The Nightingales are an English post-punk band formed in Birmingham in 1979 by singer and songwriter Robert Lloyd with former members of The Prefects. Their early records paired angular rock with Lloyd’s dry, narrative lyrics; key releases include the albums Pigs on Purpose, Hysterics and In the Good Old Country Way, as well as the song “Idiot Strength.”
After the original group disbanded in 1986, Lloyd revived The Nightingales in 2004 and returned to touring clubs across the UK, Europe and the United States. The re-formed band has also performed at Glastonbury Festival and played hometown-area concerts at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath.
