The Outlaws are an American southern-rock band formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1967. Their guitar-led sound is captured on the albums The Outlaws, Lady in Waiting and Hurry Sundown, while “There Goes Another Love Song” and the extended “Green Grass and High Tides” became their signature songs. The 1978 double album Bring It Back Alive documented the band’s touring repertoire and its long, twin-guitar treatment of “Green Grass and High Tides.” In later decades, the group toured theatres and classic-rock events and established the Green Grass & Yuletide Jam as a recurring Florida concert, including performances at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.
Pat Travers Band is a hard-rock and blues-rock group formed in London in 1975 by Canadian guitarist and singer Pat Travers. The band is known for guitar-led songs including “Snortin’ Whiskey” and “Crash and Burn,” as well as its concert version of “Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights).” Key albums include Makin’ Magic, Heat in the Street and Crash and Burn. Live! Go for What You Know, released in 1979, documented the band’s touring lineup of Travers, guitarist Pat Thrall, bassist Mars Cowling and drummer Tommy Aldridge. That lineup brought twin-guitar arrangements to the group’s club, theatre and festival performances, followed in 1980 by an appearance at Reading Festival.
