The Soul Rebels in New Orleans

The Soul Rebels are an American brass ensemble formed in New Orleans in 1991 by percussionists Lumar LeBlanc and Derrick Moss. The group plays jazz, funk and hip-hop through the instrumentation of a brass band, and is known for albums including Unlock Your Mind and Poetry in Motion. The latter features recorded collaborations with Nas, Big Freedia and Robert Glasper. The Soul Rebels established a long-running Thursday-night residency at Le Bon Temps Roulé, making the neighborhood bar their central home stage. Beyond that residency, they have performed at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Glastonbury Festival. In New York, their Soul Rebels & Friends residency at Brooklyn Bowl featured a changing cast of guest performers.
