Artists
The Undertones are a Northern Irish punk band formed in Derry in 1974. Their concise, melodic guitar songs found a wider audience through “Teenage Kicks,” followed by records including the self-titled debut, Hypnotised and the single “My Perfect Cousin.” The Undertones toured the United States supporting The Clash in 1979 and played extensively around Britain during the run of their first two albums. They broke up in 1983; reunion concerts followed in 1999, when Paul McLoone became lead singer. The reunited group has since returned to theatres and festivals, including Glastonbury Festival.
Jim Bob is a British singer-songwriter and author, born in London in 1960, best known as the co-founder and singer of indie-punk group Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. Formed with Fruitbat in 1987, the group paired guitars and drum machines on songs including “Sheriff Fatman” and “The Only Living Boy in New Cross”; its albums include 30 Something and 1992 – The Love Album. His solo records include Pop Up Jim Bob, Who Do We Hate Today? and Thanks for Reaching Out. Jim Bob and Fruitbat reunited Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine at Brixton Academy in 2007, followed by further concerts that included Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. The group staged billed farewell shows in 2014. Jim Bob has since toured under his own name in solo-acoustic and full-band formats, drawing sets from his solo records and the catalogue of Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine.
